About Me
Marathon Trainer.
Hi, I’m Matthew Churcher a passionate runner, coach, and marathon enthusiast. Over the years, I’ve helped runners of all levels from complete beginners to seasoned athletes cross the marathon finish line with confidence and a smile.I’ve personally completed more than 50 marathons, tackled multi-day endurance events, conquered two Ironman triathlons, and tested my limits in legendary races like The Comrades Marathon and the Marathon des Sables. My approach is simple: every runner is different, so your training should be too. I create bespoke training plans tailored to your lifestyle, fitness level, and goals — combining one-to-one coaching with guided runs in West London to keep you motivated, accountable, and progressing.Whether you want to complete your first marathon or set a personal best, I’ll help you train smarter, stay injury-free, and arrive on race day ready to run your best.

Remote training plans and face to face sessions
Marathon training isn’t one-size-fits-all, so I tailor every plan to fit you, your lifestyle, and your goals. My coaching focuses on creating bespoke training plans based on your current fitness and schedule, providing ongoing accountability and support through regular check-ins and guided runs in West London, and emphasizing injury prevention to keep you healthy and strong throughout your journey. With this approach, you’ll build confidence, train smarter, and most importantly, enjoy every step toward race day.
Ultramarathon Coaching
Taking on an ultramarathon is a big step — whether it’s your first time going beyond 26.2 miles or you’re chasing a faster finish on a familiar course. The distance, the terrain, and the hours on your feet demand a different approach to training than a standard marathon. If you live in the city, the lack of mountains and trails can feel like a barrier. I’ll show you how to adapt your training so you’re ready for hilly, technical, or long off-road events even without daily access to them.Your plan will be built around your target race, your experience, and your lifestyle — no cookie-cutter schedules here. We’ll work on building endurance, strengthening your body for long, uneven miles, and preparing your mind to handle the inevitable tough patches.Ultra training takes time, so I recommend starting at least six months before your race. That gives us the space to build fitness gradually, avoid injury, and arrive at the start line confident and ready to enjoy the challenge.
